PVC edge banding for furniture panels and cabinet doors

PVC edge banding covers exposed panel edges and coordinates them with the board or decorative surface. It protects the edge from handling and moisture while giving cabinet and furniture components a finished color, gloss and texture.

Width, thickness, color, embossing, gloss, backside primer, roll length and machine compatibility must be approved together because a visual match alone does not guarantee stable edgebander performance.

PVC resin, stabilizer, pigments and modifiers are compounded and extruded into a calibrated strip. Solid colors may proceed directly to finishing, while wood grains can be printed and top-coated; the reverse side receives primer before slitting and winding.

Batch checks should cover width, thickness, color, gloss, surface, primer coverage, roll tension, splice policy, roll length and a bonding trial with the intended hot melt or PUR adhesive.

1. Compound or strip preparationMeter the selected polymer, pigments and additives, or prepare the approved decorative strip construction for the target edge-banding grade.
2. Forming and calibrationExtrude or form the strip, then cool and calibrate thickness, width, straightness and surface consistency.
3. Decoration and bonding surfaceApply printing, embossing or protective coating as required and prepare the reverse side with the confirmed primer system.
4. Slitting, winding and batch QCTrim or slit to width, control roll tension, inspect color and dimensions, then label and pack the finished coils.

Polymer formulation, decoration, primer and line settings depend on the selected product. Final dimensions, roll length and bonding performance require sample approval.
